Ceylon Whole White Peppercorns 50g
Pure Sri Lanka (Ceylon) whole Black Pepper. Grown by farmers of villages in Sri Lanka.
White Peppercorns are, in fact, Black Peppercorns but left to ripen longer then the outer skin removed. However, bear in mind that they differ both in taste and aroma. White pepper has a milder taste than black pepper and adds a unique bite, both as a condiment and a seasoning. This delicious spice is particularly useful in the seasoning of light coloured foods: a peppery kick is achievable without unsightly specs of the black skin in a sauce, mashed potatoes, egg dishes and so on.
White Peppercorns are often used in white sauces, for the simple reason that the whiteness of the peppercorns ensures that the colour of the sauce is not spoilt. White peppercorns are also used where a less fiery pepper is needed; it’s a “step down” heat wise from the black peppercorns.
pepper is an excellent source of manganese and vitamin K, a very good source of copper and dietary fiber, and a good source of iron, chromium, and calcium.
